Almis Otis "Blackie" Blankenship

Almis Otis "Blackie" Blankenship, 84 of Kenova, WV passed away on March 2, 2017 at Rivers Bend Health Care in South Point, OH. He was born on July 14, 1932 in Wayne County, WV; a son of Oscar Taylor Blankenship and Edna Mae (Adkins) Blankenship. He worked as a diesel mechanic in the automotive field. He was a member of Church of Christ of Kenova. Almis was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Violet Lucas and Leslie Blankenship. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his beloved wife, Gertrude Arlene (Rowsey) Blankenship; his children: David Cecil Blankenship, Gary Lee Blankenship (Beverley) and Kathy Blankenship; his grandchildren: Jason Blankenship, Shellie Blankenship-Bajis-Mehann, Vince Blankenship, Justin Blankenship and Joshua McFann. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren: Bailey Daniels, Lilly and Maddie Mehann, Myla Bajis, Zander Bajis and Vincent Bajis and his brother-in-law, Cecil Lucas. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV 25702 or to St Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. Graveside funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington, WV.17-015
