Alva Edward Johnston Sr.

Alva Edward Johnston Sr., 91, went to with the Lord on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the Huntington Health and Rehab.  Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 1:00pm at Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.  He was born on September 7, 1929 in Huntington, WV, the son of the late Shelba Trinton and Vesta Lee Edmonds Johnston.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Verlie Marie Woods Johnston; sons Edward and Alva Johnston Jr. and Jessie Ingram; daughter Diana Johnston Farley and a granddaughter Stephaney Joe.  He was retired from Crane Supply and Teamsters # 175-505 and a veteran of the US Navy. He is survived by his wife Mildred Carol Johnston; children Jacquelin Johnston, Johny and Kay Ingram, Stephen and Shelia Ingram, Henry Ingram, Joseph Ingram and Betty Joe and James White; grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren Amy, Kimberly, Josh, Megan, Jodi, Gary Jr., Valerie, Thad, Nicole, Raiden, Hannah, Sarah, Bethany, Scarlet, Eddie, Maisie, Aaron, Joey, Skyler, Mallik, Amare, Kiersten, Audrie, Thadius, Issac, Amelia, Ayden, Kaylin, Ethan, Garrett, Jayden,Nicholas, Kynnedi, Mikai,Rachel, Skyler,Abigail, Ashley and Hank; son in law Gary and daughters in law Sandra and Rhonda; many nieces, nephews and friends and loved ones.  Friends may call at Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 11:30 until service time.  Alva loved gardening and grew beautiful roses and flowers.
