Andrew Michael "Papa Diddy" Banfi, Jr., 76, of Huntington, passed away on Thursday, June 29,2 023 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Andrew was born on March 12, 1947 in Follansbee, W.Va. a son of the late Andrew Michael and Yolanda Helen Kalenda Banfi. Papa Diddy as he was affectionately named, loved his grandchildren dearly. He was a teacher and coach in the Ohio and West Virginia School Systems.Teaching and coaching football at Rock Hill High School in Ironton, Ohio and at Guyan Valley High School in Branchland, W.Va. He also taught and coached High School Boys Soccer at Lincoln County High School in Hamlin, W.Va. after the school was consolidated. Papa Diddy played football at Marshall University from 1965 to 1967. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha (Marshall Pikes) fraternity while attending Marshall University. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Nannette Berghoff. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Judy Cunningham Banfi; one son and daughter-in-law, Andrew (Holley) Banfi; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lauren (EJ) Wynn and Lindsey Banfi; four grandchildren, Brooklyn, London, Kaison, and Amari; two brothers, Richard (Sheryl) Banfi and Charles (Debbie) Banfi; one sister, Judy Banfi-Gutierrez; a host of nieces and nephews; many loving friends; and his furry friend, Spike. A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 6:00 pm by Father Shaji Thomas at the Reger Funeral Chapel.
