Arnold Roland Stanley, aged 64, of South Point, Ohio, passed away on January 3, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. His spirit will forever live in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him. As we reflect on his life, we celebrate a man whose existence was a testament to the power of love.
Roland, as he was known to friends and family, was born on December 16, 1959, in South Point, Ohio, the son of Arnold Gale Stanley and Betsy Juliette Ross Stanley. He was a talented musician and a decorated athlete, fondly recalling his time running track and playing football at South Point High School, from which he graduated in 1979. After high school, Roland attended college at Marshall University, where he studied psychology. He spent the years after college assisting with the family business, Stanley Brothers Produce, then took his talent and passion for sales to become a top producer for Tire America.
Roland was a devoted father, uncle, and son, enjoying his free time with family. He will be fondly remembered for his love of football, art, politics, and movies, which he passionately discussed with those he held dearest. He had a jovial sense of humor and a kind heart, always succeeding in making people laugh when they needed it most. A lifelong dedicated fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, he was rarely spotted without a Bengals shirt or hoodie. To those reading, he would undoubtedly proudly say, “Who Dey!”
Roland was preceded in death by his father Arnold and his sister, Angelia Shawn Stanley. He is survived by his mother Betsy, his siblings Ronald Howard Stanley (Paulette Julia Stanley), David Mitchell Stanley (Kathy Adams-Stanley), Amy Hope Stanley, his niece, Veronica June Stanley, and his nephews, Brandon Alexander Stanley and Devin Mitchell Stanley. He is also survived by his daughter, Athena Juliette Wells (Alan Michael Wells), whom he treasured deeply.
