Benjamin Fetty, age 80, peacefully left this world to eternally rejoice with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, 12 June, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice in Huntington, WV, his beloved bride of 59 years, Linda Marie, lovingly by his side until the Lord called him home. He was born on 30 September 1937 in Huntington, WV. Benjamin was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph High School, served his church community at St. Ann’s Catholic Church and his country in the United States Marine Corps. After his retirement from Heiner’s Bakery where he worked for forty years, Benjamin served his fellow Marines in the Marine Corps League where he served as the Detachment Adjutant for twelve years and the Department Chief of Staff for two years. He received numerous local, state, and national awards for his unselfish dedication to his brothers and sisters in the Marines, including the Department of West Virginia Marine of the Year award in 2014 and the Distinguished Citizen Gold Award in 2017. Benjamin was a man full of love who was also loved well. He was the son of the late Harriet (Molly) and Dallas Fetty. He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Doris (James) Shope and Joann (Eurcel) Chinn. He is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Kathy (Joe) Stevens and Jane (Charles) Koelsch; four grandchildren; Julie (Jason) Luu, Sarah (Josh) Iddings, Jennifer (Jay) Hackett, and Joseph (Breanna) Stevens; eight great-grand children; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, June 15th at Reger Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00am on Saturday, June 16th at St. Ann Catholic Church in Chesapeake, Ohio. Rite of Committal will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. The Marine Corps League will conduct graveside military rites. Condolences may be made to the family at www.regerfh.com.
