Benjamin W. Marcum, 70, of Prichard, WV went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Ben was born in Logan County, WV, to Hezekiah and Avis Cox Marcum, both of whom preceded him in death. Ben, who had a vibrant and enthusiastic personality, was a graduate of Vinson High School and received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Marshall University. After teaching school for a few years, Ben worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers for over 30 years. He was a member of Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He had a passion for outdoor activities, history, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Lauren Hartzog Marcum and their three sons and their wives: Andrew (Brenda) Marcum of Prichard, WV, Jeremiah (Sarah) Marcum of Ft. Worth, TX, and Zachary (Andrea) Marcum of Lavalette, WV; two grandsons who were the delight of his life: Benjamin (Little Ben) and Jacob Marcum of Prichard, WV; one sister Linda (Eugene) Parsons of Wayne, WV; a special cousin (like a sister) Shirley (Ercel) Sias of South Point, OH; two brothers-in-law, Joe (Lana) Hartzog of Bluefield, VA , and Jeff (Gwen) Hartzog of Williamsburg, VA; several nieces and nephews, Twig (Lara) Dixon, Julie (Chip) Hurley, Michael (Loree) Hartzog, Jeffrey (Amber) Hartzog, Josh (Erica) Hartzog, Scott (Cassie) Parsons and several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two aunts, Lavonne Mayo of Pataskala, OH and Lillian Horn of Massillon, OH and several special cousins. A �Celebration of Life� in honor of Ben will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 872 Buffalo Creek Road, Huntington, WV.
