Bertie Elizabeth Mccoy

Bertie Elizabeth (Whisman) McCoy, 88, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the Heritage Center Nursing Home. She was born November 15, 1922 in Mt. Sterling, KY to the late Phillip and Lucy (Toy) Whisman. She united in marriage to Earl B. McCoy who preceded her in death. Mrs. McCoy was a lifetime member and past Matron (1964-1965) of the Order of Eastern Star Marcum Chapter #61. She was also a member of the Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxillary of the church. Mrs. McCoy was employed by the Sylvania Company in Huntington. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Rick and Samantha McCoy of Westmoreland; a brother Ewell Whisman of Westmoreland; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 6 brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from Noon until time of services. Marcum Chapter #61 of the Order of Eastern Star will be conducting Eastern Star Rites.
