Betty J. Gilkerson

Betty J. Gilkerson, 92, of Prichard, WV went to be with our Lord Wednesday, January 12, 2022 peacefully in her sleep at home. Betty was born on February 23, 1929 in Wayne County, WV the daughter of the late Ed and Lola Collinsworth. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Charles H. “Chalk” Gilkerson and her sister Lois Fern Hill. She is survived by her children and spouses, Sharon (Roger) Mitchell of Prichard, W.Va., Randy Gilkerson of Titusville, Fla., Bonnie (Don) Madden of Flagler Beach, Fla., and Doug (Renee) Gilkerson of Martin, KY. Betty has eight grandchildren, Shannon, Toby, Beth, Doug, Katie, Clint, Josh, Kinsey; fifteen great grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren. Betty was a homemaker and a longtime member of Smith Memorial United Methodist Church. She loved to quilt and sew, garden and work the farm with Chalk. She was advisory board member for many years for the PVFD. She was a loving grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a great woman that was a shining example for her family and her community. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Danny Heaberlin and Minister Dennis Ashworth at 1pm on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Davis Family Cemetery, Prichard, WV. Friends may call from 11 am until service time at the Reger Funeral Home.
