Charles William Nordling passed away July 28, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Frances W. Nordling, daughter Erin Nordling and his only granddaughter Maerin Isabella Marte of Flushing, NY. Daughters, Hillary and Francine Nordling of Huntington, WV. His brother, Rick Nordling and wife Carol Nordling of Paulsbo, WA. Sister Carreen Nordling Rubenkonig and husband John Rubenkonig of Edmonds, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Pauline Nordling. Chuck served in the United States Army in Heidelberg, Germany. He and his wife traveled Europe extensively and returned to Huntington in 1973. He graduated from Marshall University and retired after 34 years plus service with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a devoted fan to the Thundering Herd, with season tickets to basketball and football. He loved his Reds baseball team and NASCAR. Chuck coached softball and pitched for Chili Willi’s and Dan’s Sporting Goods; in later years he played with the Senior League in Ohio. He was also an active member of the Vinson Tiger Band Boosters and PTA. With a twinkle in his eye and a warm smile for everyone, Chuck loved life and people. He will be dearly missed by his family, neighbors and countless friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 5:00 PM by Pastor Tom Nolan at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington. Burial will take place on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East, Greenup, KY. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, WV. Friends may call from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington.
