Charles Eugene Mcguire Jr.

Charles Eugene McGuire, Jr., 80, of Huntington, W.Va. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Cabell Huntington Hospital as a result of serious injuries from an accidental fall.

He was born in Logan, W.Va., on August 4, 1942, a son of the late Charles Eugene and Martha Browning McGuire and grew up in the Omar area. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda Harold Parker McGuire; son, David McGuire (Melanie) of Delaware, Ohio; step-sons, Jeff Parker (Heather) of Lesage, W.Va., and Mike Parker (Julie) of Gallatin, Tenn.; grandchildren, Carly McGuire Disbennet, 27 (Alex), Bryson, 23, Jackson, 21, Colson, 19, and Ethan Parker, 21; great grandson, Quinton Alexander Disbennett, born December 27 and his two kitty fur babies, Buddy and Calli.

Charlie was a 1961 graduate of Logan High School and an accomplished trumpet player who studied at Berkeley College of Music, Boston, Mass., and Marshall University. In addition to being a musician who loved jazz and traveled with the Parliaments, he worked at Green Acres, Lesage, W.Va. In late life, he especially enjoyed playing his trumpet in church worship services and doing in-depth Bible study. Above all, he loved his family dearly and cherished the title of PaPa. He accomplished a lot in his 80 years for a man who was both legally blind and color blind from birth. Friends and family are invited to gather and share stories about Charlie on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 2:30 - 4:00 pm at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 4:00 pm in the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington.
