Charles N. Cobb, 65, of Huntington, WV passed away peacefully on May 27, 2013 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House after a brief courageous fight against serious illness. Charles was born on July 21, 1947 in Chautauqua County, NY to the late Roland E. Cobb and Mildred Clark Cobb Near. Charles is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bonnie L. Cobb; a daughter, Erica Cobb Schippers (John) of Ypsilanti, MI, and grandson, Jack Richard Schippers. He graduated from Houghton College, Houghton, NY in 1970 with a BS degree in Chemistry and from Marshall University in 1988 with a Masters degree in Business. Charles honorably served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1970 – 1976 and was based in Huntington, WV and Governors Island, NY. Chuck was employed by Ashland Oil Company and subsequently Marathon Petroleum Company from 1978 to the present. Chuck was a respected member of the Analytical Section of the Refining Analytical & Development department where he was a Research Chemist. Chuck loved his job and developed great friendships with his coworkers over the years. He was known for his dry sense of humor as well as a fondness for an occasional treat of single malt scotch. He was a fine tuba player and for a period of time performed with local community brass bands. Chuck also enjoyed classical music and Beethoven was his favorite composer. He was a lifelong supporter of the second amendment. Chuck greatly enjoyed watching and participating in a variety of sports and athletics. Charles will be greatly missed by family and friends. Gratitude and appreciation is extended to a retired coworker and friend, Frank DiLego and his wife, Diane for their support and help through this difficult period. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff at Cleveland Clinic and the Veterans Medical center as well as Hospice of Huntington and the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. A private graveside service will be conducted in Chautauqua County, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated for the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House at 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV. Reger Funeral Home of Huntington is assisting the family.
