Charles �Rusty� Bash, 76, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. He was born August 3, 1931 in Ceredo a son to the late Gorman Bash and Zelphia Swing. Rusty is survived by his loving wife Thelma (Parsley) Bash, his stepmother Helen Bash. Additional survivors include a daughter Debby Hibbard and her husband Michael of Kenova and a son Mike Bash of Ceredo. Mr. Bash also leaves behind four grandchildren Tina Hibbard, Lisa Hibbard-Fraley, Jamie Brown, and Mikka Bash; two great granddaughters and two great grandsons. He is also survived by three half brothers Denver Bash, Dale Bash, and Keith Bash. Rusty was preceded in death by a sister Thelma Jean Short. Rusty proudly served his country in the US Marines. He was an active member having held many offices in the American Legion Post #93 in Kenova. Rusty was the Director of the Ceredo Kenova Community Center from 1968-1998. He is a Ceredo City Councilman from 1969 to present. He took great pride and joy in working diligently with many of this areas youth sporting programs. There were several teams, tournaments, and leagues he helped start and coach. Many knew Rusty as the �Roving Reporter� Charles R. �Rusty� Bash of the Ceredo New Crescent. Rusty was also actively involved with many of the Committees in the Town of Ceredo that has helped make this the great town it is today. Rusty was also very proud to serve as Chairman for the Annual Veteran�s Day Parade since 1993 along with being the Chairman of the Memorial Day Service since 1995. Additionally, he was on the first Board of Directors of the C-K Health Center along with Ceredo Manor. Most of all, Rusty loved his family and his community and will be sadly missed by many. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30pm Saturday at the Kenova United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Byard, Rev. Lindsay Thorp, and Pastor Rodney Hale officiating. Burial will follow in the Docks Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 until time of service at the church. Donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington or to the Kenova United Methodist Church. Arrangements for Mr. Bash have been entrusted to Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home.
