Charles proudly served in the United States Army from 1945-1948. He was a proud life member of America Legion Post 93, Kenova. He worked at Armco Steel. He retired in 1991, after many years of service, as Floodwall Superintendent of the Kenova Floodwall District of the Upper Ohio Valley Floodwall Association. Charles was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church of Kenova, serving as Devotional Leader, Trustee, and Treasurer. He loved his church, his country, his family, his Wan and his Lord. He always ended his prayers with Thank you, Lord, for loving us and letting us love you. Charles was an avid collector, gardener, holiday decorator, painter, and jokester. He took pleasure in learning about trains and antique cars. His grandchildren can attest to his resourceful ability to fix anything. He took pride every year in having the first tomato on the vine. Every stake was labeled and measured precisely. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to Hospice of Huntington or Victory Baptist Church of Kenova. Our family would like to thank all those at Hospice for making his life and ours, more comfortable the last 11 months. A special thanks to Sandy Smith, who was more than a nurse and to Griffith & Feil, who was more than a pharmacy. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ceredo, WV. A celebration service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 22nd at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Preece, Charles special friend, officiating. 15-008
