Clyde Jack Rickman

Chief Clyde” Jack” Rickman (Ret.), 77, of Huntington passed away Saturday December 13, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Thursday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Tom Nolan. Entombment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born November 4, 1937 in Huntington, a son of the late Naaman and Minnie Chinn Rickman. Jack retired in 1991 from the Huntington Fire Department as Chief where he began his career with the fire department as a fire fighter working his way up the ranks to serve as Chief. He was an Ohio Valley Bus Driver and a part time Deputy Sherriff before joining the fire department. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. Jack graduated from Marshall University with a Fire Science Degree and was a member of the Westmoreland Methodist Church, Society of the 40 & 8, River Cities Lions Club and Rotary Club. He was a past member of the US Fire Administration Advisory Board, and instructor at Marshall University, Board of Directors Tri-State Fire School, American Legion State Historian, International Fire Chiefs and Fire instructors Society, honorable Kentucky Colonel and a member of the American Legion Post 16, and VFW Post 1064 In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Wilma Jean Shuff Rickman and a son Jack “Wayne” Rickman. Survivors include his grandchildren “Eric” Wayne Rickman and “Sara” S. Rickman; six great grandchildren and a sister Janet Rickman. Friends may call from 2 to 4 pm and 5 to 7 pm Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home. The Veterans Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 16 of Huntington will conduct military graveside rites.
