CYNTHIA (CINDY) ANN GLEASON MADDEN, 63, of Huntington died at home after an extended illness on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Cindy was born in Huntington, W.Va., on November 26, 1960. She was the daughter of the late William and Jean (McLin) Gleason. Cindy was a graduate of St. Joseph Central Catholic High School. After briefly attending Marshall University, Cindy realized her passion was Cosmetology. As a result, she enrolled and completed Huntington School of Beauty Culture. She enjoyed a successful career of nearly forty years as a beautician. During this time, she was the owner and operator of Fourth Avenue Hair Care before moving the business to Fifth Avenue where she served her many clients with joy. It was well known that many looked forward to their upcoming appointments because they expected to laugh heartily and catch up. Cindy was a warm, accepting, and funny person. She was beloved by all people and creatures. Cindy rescued many animals over the years and provided a safe and loving home to each. She had a flair for antiques, threw memorable New Year’s Eve parties, and never found a swimming pool she didn’t like. In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her nephew, Robert (Bobby) Gleason, whom she adored. Cindy is survived by her devoted husband, Chester (Buddy) Madden, loving dogs Maddy, Abby, and Charlie; brothers William J. Gleason Jr., Robert (Melanie) Gleason, Daniel (Christine) Gleason, and sister Kathryn (Chris) Leonard. Cindy also leaves behind her mother-in-law, Margaret, with whom she shared a special relationship, sisters-in-law Diana Bush, Deborah Moore (Bob), and brother-in-law Tommy Madden. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews, Maggie Gleason (JR) Crawford, Mack Gleason, John (Sarah) Gleason, Paige and Kelly Leonard, Matthew, Michael and Katie Gleason, Carter Kingery; great-nephews; Robert (Bobby), Clay, and great-niece; Emmy Crawford; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Nephews and cousins will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 6 at Reger Funeral Home, Huntington. A visitation at Reger Funeral Home will also be offered on Thursday, December 7 at 10 a.m. before a devotion led by Monsignor Dean Borgmeyer at 11 am.
