David Allen Varney

David Allen Varney, 49, of Ceredo died Monday December 5, 2011 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born March 27, 1962 in Louisa, KY to David Lawson and Betty Sue (Tabor) Varney, who survive. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Kimberly (Webb) Varney and their son Dalton Varney. Additional survivors include his sister Diana (Larry) Blackburn, niece Cara Nelson (Jeremy) Hall, nephew Brandon Nelson and fianc�e Jayme Vonderhouvel, great niece Taylor Nelson, ex brother in law Andy Nelson, in-laws Jack and Evelyn Webb and many other friends and family. Anyone that met Dave loved him and he never met a stranger. He was very kind natured, loving and giving. He loved to have fun with his friends and family. He was generous and devoted to all who knew him. He was a hard worker his entire life. David was a 1980 graduate of Wayne High School and was a member of the State Championship Football Team. In his twenties, he worked as a millwright in Piketon, OH and then ran River Cities Ford in Lavalette. He helped run the family business Dave�s Marine in Kenova for many years. He later worked at Action Petroleum, helped with the construction of Eco Quik Mart, built and ran 9 car washes, and built Dalton�s Plaza. David was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Buena Vista Lodge #60 in Prichard, WV and El-Hasa Shrine in Ashland, KY. In addition, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Ceredo. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 8th at 1pm at First Baptist Church of Ceredo with Pastor Rodney Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-9pm Wednesday, December 7th at the church. Pallbearers will be Butch Berlin, Chris Black, Robbie Coleman, Jason Crabtree, Kirby Milum, Brandon Nelson, Ron Tabor and Rick Williamson. David enjoyed sharing Christmas with underprivileged children. In honor of David, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to David�s Christmas Angel Fund, Town Square Bank, PO Box 2289, Ashland, KY 41105. These may also be made at the church.
