Della Mae Skeens, 95, of Ceredo, WV, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Hospice House in Huntington, WV. She was born January 5, 1911 in Prestonsburg, KY a daughter to the late John Bascom and Margaret (Howard) Smith. She was a member of the Twentieth Street Baptist Church in Kenova and retired from Pilgrim Glass. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Riley Skeens, one daughter, Charlene Skeens, five brothers, Jack, Lee, Dennis, Ed and George Smith. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lula Mae and Lacy Stone of Huntington, WV and Helen and Pastor Larry Mullens of Ceredo, WV. Four grandchildren and their spouses, Beverly Mae and Gary Bailey, Kim Lacy and Lugene Stone of Huntington, WV, Scott Alan and Carrie Mullens of Burlington, KY and William Aaron Mullens of Kenova, WV, three great-grandchildren, Lacy Leanne and Mark Wilson of Lavalette, WV, Angela Dawn Bailey and Dustin Riley Stone of Huntington, WV, one great-great granddaughter, Lacy MarLeah Wilson of Lavalette, WV, and a host of nieces and nephews and multiple dear friends. She was a loving Christian mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family. The family would like to thank the Hospice House of Huntington for the loving care they provided. Funeral services for Mrs. Della Mae Skeens will be conducted at 11:00am Tuesday at Twentieth Street Baptist Church with Pastors Cliff Curry, Larry Mullens, Kim Stone and Scott Mullens officiating. Burial will follow at the Docks Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9pm Monday at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home. Mrs. Skeens will be taken to the church one hour before the service. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice House of Huntington or Twentieth Street Baptist Church, Kenova.
