Delores Dodie Arlene Bare, age 70, of Charleston, WV went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2016. She was born on August 22, 1946 to Charles and Theresa Jacobs. She was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Lanny R. Bare, of Charleston and her 2 children, Mr. Brian Bubby M. Bare of Belle WV and Dr. Karen M. Bare-Oldham of Hurricane WV. She was a remarkable grandmother to 4 amazing granddaughters: Taylor Bare-Humphreys, Haidyn Bare, Sophia Bare and Tylee Oldham. She also was an awesome grandmother to one amazing grandson: Colton CJ Jacob Oldham and great-grandmother to two amazing great-granddaughters: Lainey and Rylee Humphreys. Dodie attended Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral, Charleston Catholic High School and West Virginia Tech University where she was a member of Delta Zeta. She was retired from Kanawha County Schools where she worked as a cook and head cook for a plethora of years. She was a member and local chapter representative for the American Federation of Teachers and Service Personnel and showed her love, advice and support to many that needed her help. She will forever be remembered. Her humor, love, compassion and blunt honesty will always be part of our daily conversations and treasured memories. The family would like to extend special thanks, prayers and love to the Hospice Caregivers and the Doctors and support members that stood by her and showed her their love and support to our family in our time of need. She truly was blessed for years under the care of Dr. Phister at CAMC and Dr. Oakley at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She talked about them daily as she treated them to lunches and loved the care they provided her. The Hospice caregivers were truly outstanding and we appreciated them letting her have her wish to come home. Her journey was made with comfort and love and all her wishes were granted. She will truly remain forever with us and guide and protect us until we meet again. Dodie will be cremated by Tri-State Cremation Society and Ceredo Kenova Funeral Home is entrusted with her care. You may send condolences to 148 Point Lick Drive, Charleston, WV 25306. Her ashes will remain over her fireplace mantle to watch over her family.
