Dennis Kent Daugherty, 55, of Huntington, passed away February 24, 2015 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. A celebration of life will be conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm Saturday March 7, 2015 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 701 5th Ave., Huntington, WV, 25708 with Rev. Tim Dixon officiating. He was born November 16, 1959 in Wetzel County, WV, a son of James Neil Daugherty and the late Rose Rine Daugherty. Dennis was a 1997 graduate of Marshall University and was a prominent Huntington businessman and owner and operator of Perry and Jaymes Florist of 14th St. West, Huntington. He was very active in community affairs and an avid supporter and participant in many fund raising events. Dennis loved his antiques and friends and will be missed by many. In addition to his mother Dennis was also preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Grandmother Rine and brother James “Butch” Daugherty. Additional survivors include aunt Gloria Terrell; aunt and uncle Wendell and Sue Rine; special friends and caretakers Leslie Nahodil, Tim Keaton, Amy Sparks, Ebon and Michelle Howley, Ed Moellendick, Susan McKinley, “Boo” Kleppe, Whitney Esque, Sydonna Hobbs and friends Jimmy Elam, P.C. and Elaine Pancake, Katie Thacker, Courtney Dowell and the entire Corner Crowd and a host of many other friends and acquaintances. A fellowship meal will be served at the church in Bromly Hall at 3:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 4:00 PM in the Sanctuary of the Church. Condolences may be made at www.regerfh.com. In lieu of flowers it has been requested that a donation be made to the First Congregational UCC in memory of Dennis.
