Diana Waddell Porter, 79, of Huntington, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, departed from the earth May 28, 2024. She is preceded in death by father Virgil Porter, mother and stepfather Agnes and Harold Mathie of Charleston, and companion Dusty Bills of Huntington.
Diana was born July 6, 1944, in Charleston and graduated from Charleston High School and West Virginia University. She earned a Master’s in Accounting from Marshall University and served as a certified public accountant and then as business manager for the Marshall University HELP program until retirement. Diana was an accomplished runner and marathoner, participated in countless local races and acted as a volunteer race director. She served her community in many ways over the years, including adult literacy, a crisis hotline, reading to students, volunteer tax preparation, pet fostering, and at the Wild Ramp and Heritage Farm. Diana’s extended family and friends will deeply miss her unconditional love, adventurous spirit and determination.
Diana is survived by sons, Theodore Prescott Haddox III (Michelle) of Morgantown, Dr. Joshua Haddox (Ashley) of Huntington; and daughter, Katherine Davis (Nathan) of North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Alexander Haddox, Sophia Haddox, Theodore Haddox, Patricia Haddox, Jacob Haddox, Isabella Haddox, Owen Davis and Elodie Davis; and beloved sisters, Carol Porter of Huntington and Patti Vanderbeek and brother-in-law Randy Vanderbeek of North Carolina; and six nieces and nephews.
