Dolphy Woodrow Dickerson, Jr. 63, For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted Ecclesiastes 1-3. Dolphy walked through the gates of glory on December 6, 2013. He was born on July 6, 1950, the son of late Dolphy Woodrow Dickerson, Sr. and Nora Holbrook. He is preceded in death by his son Jimmie Dickerson, a sister Darlene Napier, and a niece Tammy Napier. Survivors include his loving wife Lora Lea (Mills) Dickerson whom he celebrated 40 years of marriage with this past year, daughter Katrina Nelson and her husband Scott, grandchildren Kiley and Logan Nelson, and sister Kathy Adkins (Leonard), three nephews Raymond Napier, Christopher Preece and Bryan Adkins, two nieces Rebecca Conley, and Amanda Preece and a great niece. He was a member of Spring Valley Freewill Baptist Church and a retired truck driver. Throughout his life's journey he faced many challenges. He was humble and grateful for the opportunities given to him by his Lord and Savior. In February 2010, after years of Heart Failure, Dolphy received a wonderful gift of life, a heart transplant. He was proud to advocate for organ donation and tell of his wonderful experience and new opportunities to all who would listen. He never missed an opportunity to praise The Lord for giving him such an awesome challenge and for the medical staff that The Lord provided. Dolphy leaves behind a legacy of smiles, determination, dedication, and a host of friends who he called family, some lifelong, some more recent. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Monday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Minister Bernie Riggs and Pastor Willis Mills. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Section of Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, WV. Friends may call from 3 to 5 pm Sunday at the Reger Funeral Home.
