Donald Lee Pelfrey

DONALD LEE PELFREY, 82, of Ceredo died Saturday at his residence. He was born May 24, 1923 in Ceredo a son of the late Basil and Ida Mae Ray Pelfrey. He was a retired Cabinet Installer with Woody�s Kitchens. Mr. Pelfrey was a member of the Ceredo United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Ceredo Crescent Lodge #32, the American Legion Post #93, and the Scottish Rite of Huntington. Mr. Pelfrey honorably served his country during World War II in the Army. He united in marriage to Mrs. Evelyn Yelkey Pelfrey who preceded him in death on June 26, 1996. To this union a daughter and two sons were born. Beverly Maynard and her husband Danny of Lavalette, Dana Lee Pelfrey and his wife Joy of Kenova, and Donald Owen Pelfrey and his wife Terri of Ironton, OH. Additional survivors include two sisters, Jean Lykins of Westmoreland, and Betty Kidd of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was preceded in death by a sister Pauline Christian and a brother Olyn Pelfrey. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Angela Dobbins of Lavalette, Crystal Janes-Maynard of California, Laura Faulkner of East Lynn, Kris Pelfrey of Kenova, Dustin Pelfrey of Kenova, Stacie Pelfrey of Wilmington,. VA, and Hannah Pelfrey of Kenova. He was preceded in death by one grandson Danny E. Maynard Jr. Additionally, he is survived by three great-grandchildren, Bubby Workman and Janie Workman of East Lynn, and Kristen Janes-Maynard of California. Mr. Pelfrey also leaves behind his faithful Boston Terrier, Sam. The family would like to thank the many friends, neighbors, and Church family who have meant so much to him over the years. Funeral services for Mr. Pelfrey will be conducted at 11:00am Wednesday at the Ceredo United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron LeMaster officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Masonic Rites and Military rites will be performed at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9pm Tuesday at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ceredo United Methodist Church. These may be made at the funeral home.
