Eileen Catherine Waters

Eileen C. Leitner Waters, 92, of Huntington, WV passed away on Thursday October 19, 2023 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Friends may call at the visitation from 6 – 8 pm Friday, October 27th at Reger Funeral Home with the Rosary being recited at 5:30 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, October 28th at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Msgr. Borgmeyer with the Burial immediately following at Spring Hill Cemetery.

She was born July 3, 1931 in Huntington, WV, the daughter of the late George and Loretta Leitner. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband James E. Waters, her sister Jean Schuchman and brother Bob Leitner. She is survived by her five children: Jim (Donna) Waters, Scott Depot, WV - Dan (Patsy) Waters, Franklin, KY - Shirley (Jim) Perry, Cincinnati, OH - Bob (Sandy) Waters, Albuquerque, NM -George (Denise) Waters, Oklahoma City, OK. Four Grandchildren: Jason (Jenny) Waters, Jeremy Waters, Margaux Waters, Houston (Lacey) Nix, and Great Grandson Julian Waters.

Pall Bearers: Greg and Steve Leitner, Luke Perry, Jim Schuchman, Jason and Jeremy Waters. Honorary Pallbearers: Bob Simpkins and Brent Diamond.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to “St. Joseph Catholic Schools” and will be added to “The Eileen C. Waters Endowed Tuition Assistance Fund” - St. Joseph Catholic Schools, 1326 6th Ave., Huntington, WV 25701.

Eileen was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. Her faith was her guiding light and could move mountains. Thank you to Msgr. Borgmeyer for your Saturday visits to the house, Dr. Moses, Dr. Sharma and Sarah, Joe Lambiotte and team for the top-notch care that you provided over the last year. Eileen had many wonderful lifelong friends from church, her neighborhood, her volunteering, from Marshall sporting events, playing bridge, playing golf, physical therapy, and even her last days in the hospital. She loved and cherished all these wonderful friends like family. Eileen was special - let her live in your memories forever!
