Eli Abbas Bassett

Eli A. Bassett, Jr., 83,formerly of Huntington died Saturday, August 20,2011 in Frankfurt,Germany after a brief illness. He was born on April 22, 1928 in Welch, WV the son of the late Eli and Najla Bassett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers; Clement and Luther Bassett. Eli graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor and masters degree. He also received hi JD from Yale Law School and a masters in law from the New York University. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War. He was a retired University of Maryland (European Division) professor who will be remembered by colleagues and students for his dedication, keen wit and zest for life. Eli's family are grateful for his admirable qualities of compassion, kindness and simplicity. Eli is survived by two nieces and their families. The family will receive friends at the Reger Funeral Home,1242 Adams Avenue, Huntington, WV from 10:30-11;30 am on Saturday, October 22 followed by graveside services at noon in Spring Hill Cemtery with military rites.
