Emily W. Frazier

December 25, 1924 — May 21, 2015

Long time Huntington resident, Emily W. Frazier, daughter of John Frederick and Lillian Bryan Woods, died on May 21, 2015, in Winston-Salem, NC. She was preceded in death by her brother, John M. Woods. She is survived by one son and his wife David & Barbara Pyles of Mammoth Lakes, CA, and her three daughters and their spouses; Jayne & David Ashworth of Bernard, Maine; Sue & Phil Riggs of Sitka, Alaska; and Joan & Tom Doss of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Huntington East High School, attended Marshall College, and graduated at the top of her nursing school class from Huntington East Vocational School. Her birth on Christmas Day in 1924 was an indication of the gift she would be to those in her life: the four children she raised to be caring, responsible adults; the patients for whom she cared when she became a nurse later in her life; the plants and pets who thrived under her care; and the neighbors, friends and strangers whom she gladly helped - sometimes in response to a request, at other times when she saw a need and responded to it. Per her wishes, a private burial service was held on Friday, May 29th, 2015.
