Ernest Richard Blankenship, 84, of Catlettsburg, KY, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at his residence. A Funeral Liturgy will be conducted by Fr. Thomas on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 1 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Cavalry Cemetery, Ashland, KY. Ernest was born on January 20, 1938 in Ashland, K.Y. the son of the late Ernest and Katherine Clark Blankenship. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked at Armco Steel. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one son,. Ernest Dwaine Blankenship. Ernest is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Blankenship; his children, Kristy Blankenship, Timothy Alan Blankenship, Sherry Reneè Scherer, and Mary Laura Lee; grandchildren, Robert Michael Lee, Mathew Major, and Timothy K. Major, Jennifer Lee, and Wendy Meyers; her great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Friends may call from noon until service time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Huntington.
