ESTHER FERGUSON PELFREY, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Monday, July 23, 2012, at her residence. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodmere Memorial Park by Chaplain Cindy Hardwick. Burial will follow. She was born in Cabell County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Fred Marion and Alice Hampton Ferguson. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #8, of Huntington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Hampton Ferguson, and a son-in-law, William Ritter, Jr. Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Charles L. Pelfrey, Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Suzanne Sovine of Safety Harbor, Fla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Alice Sovine Ritter and Becky Arnold and Fritz Leichner, all of Huntington; two grandchildren, Kristin Ritter Homolka and William Trace Ritter, III, and three great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. The funeral procession to the cemetery will leave Reger Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
