Ethel Faye Vance, 92, of Kenova, WV passed away on August 6, 2016 at Grayson Assisted Living with her loving niece, Sue Shaw by her side. She was born on February 16, 1924 in Fort Gay, WV; a daughter of William Hargis and Bertha McCoy Hargis. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Elmer Vance; her siblings: Grady, James, Clarence, Reathel �Bill� Hargis and Ruby Gibson; her great nephews, Kent, Tommy and Todd Shaw and Brittany Shaw. Ethel was a beautiful, kind, generous and loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, step-mother, Grannie and good friend to many people. She loved life and enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, entertaining, traveling and dancing. She was a member of the �Twenty Twinkles� and of the Moose Lodge 2586 and Chapter 2223 in Huntington. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for many years. She retired in the mid 1970�s to travel and spend time with her husband, her father and her family here and in Florida. She leaves behind to mourn her loss her step-children, Cynthia Vance Black (Roney) and their children: Ashlee and Christopher and James Michael Vance (Lisa) and their children: Dylan and Dekker Vance; her special nieces, Sue Shaw and Sherry Rowe whom she raised after their parents passed away. Also surviving are her nephews, Bob, Ernie and Paul Hargis and her nieces, Bertha Hager, Lana Donahoe and Bee Johnson; three generations of Shaw and Rowe children who called her �Grannie� and whom she loved as her own grandchildren: Larry (Mary Ann) Rowe, Jeff (Debbie) Rowe and Joschua Rowe, Amy Colangelo and her children, Alex, Zach, Bella and Christopher; Rachel (Greg) Gibson and their children, Ashley and Blake; Stacy (Emory) Wallace and their children, Ethan and Aidan; Mike (Sherry) Rowe and their children, Sarah, Haleigh and Michael Ryan Rowe and his kids, Levi and Keegan. Also, Brett Rowe, Mark (Tawnya) Shaw, Scott (Melissa) Shaw and Megan and Mason Shaw; Renee Shaw and her children, Courtney and Haley and Trinity Shaw. The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care she received at Grayson�s Assisted Living. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at noon with visitation one hour prior at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home.
