Frank Prince

March 1, 1937 — November 26, 2014

Frank Prince, 77, of Huntington W.Va. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at his home. He was born on March 1, 1937 in Crum, W.Va; a son of the late Jesse Prince and Bethane (Woodrow) Prince. He was preceded in death by his mother Bethane Prince and his father Jesse Prince, brothers Wilson Prince, Fred Prince, Carl Prince, Jesse Prince (infant) all of Crum, W.Va., brother Charles Prince of Whitesville, W.Va. and sister Myrtle Prince of Thornsville, Ohio; a father-in-law Calvin Marcum and a mother-in-law Gertrude Marcum of Prichard, W.Va. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Louise (Marcum) Prince, two sons Frank A. Prince (Nelie), of Huntington, W.Va., and Calvin E. Prince (Gerri) of Kenova, W.Va. and four special grandchildren Justin Prince of Orlando, FL., Jonathan Prince of Ceredo, W.Va., Brittney Prince of Kenova, W.Va., and Jessie Prince of Ceredo, W.Va., and brothers J.D. Prince (Myrtie) of Prichard W.Va., Earl Prince (Karen) and Mac Prince (Cosby) both of Crum, W.Va., and one sister Faye Prince (Owen Haney) of Dunlow, W.Va.; two important brother-in-laws Sammie Marcum of Kenova, W.Va. and Amos Prince of Ceredo, W.Va., as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Frank was a member of the Kenova Church of Christ as well as a member of the Kenova Masonic Lodge 110 A.F. & A.M. where he served as a Past Master and Worthy Patron of Kenova Chapter 111 O.E.S. He retired from the International Nickel Company in Burnaugh, Ky. During his 77 years of life Frank was a shining example of hard work and love. His sacrifices for his family began at an early age as a brother, dropping out of school before completing graduation to work with his father cutting timber to help ensure his siblings had the resources needed to survive and finish their own schooling. Frank would later earn his GED. As a husband for more than a half century he was loyal and caring to his wife. As a father he worked long hours at the Hamer Lumber Company in Kenova, W.Va. to support his children, as a grandfather he was a primary example of affection. He would often entertain his grandchildren with jokes and stories of his life that always captivated and inspired them. He was an honest and giving man who always put the lives of others before his own. During his three year battle with cancer Frank fought valiantly, where he never once allowed those who loved him to see his pain. He took treatments and medication without complaint. We offer special thanks to Dr. Kimmie and his staff at Huntington Internal Medicine Group for their excellent care. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Ministers John Holland and Amos Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Kenova, W.Va. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
