George Pete Fotos

George Pete Fotos (92) fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, February 09, 2019, after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bess Nicholas Fotos, originally of Maysville, Kentucky.  He was the son of Greek immigrants, Pete a restaurateur and Carrie Fotos who raised their three children in Huntington.  He was predeceased by his sister Effie Vlahos (Lester) of Dayton, Ohio, and has a surviving sister Mary Athanasakes (Ted) of Boyton Beach, Florida.  He is also survived by his three sons, Peter George Fotos (Angelica), of Louisville, Kentucky, Alexander George Fotos (Suzanne), and Stratius George Fotos (Donna) both of Huntington.  In addition, he leaves behind five grandchildren, Stephanie, Gloria, Rebecca, Elizabeth (Cory), and Stratius, and three great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Ryan, and Ellie.  George was a World War Two veteran of the US Army Air Corp., and owned and operated several businesses in Huntington, most notably, Huntington Piano & Organ Co. formerly on Washington Avenue.  He was a graduate of Huntington High School, and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, a master piano technician, and gifted musician.  He was a past member of the Lions Club and a member the Huntington Masonic Lodge.  He was a life-long member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Huntington and served a number of years as choir director.  Viewing will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 701, 11th Ave., Huntington, WV from 9AM to 10AM Wednesday, followed by the funeral at that church conducted by Father Mark Elliott.  Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 701 11th Ave., Huntington, 25701.  Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Condolences may be made to the family at www.regerfh.com .   “Now he looks upon us astonished at our sorrow as he possesses the spiritual vision of the angels and can see God.”  May his Memory be Eternal in Christ.
