George Robert Rutherford

George Robert Rutherford, 83, of Ceredo, WV went to be with his Lord on May 6, 2008. He was devoted to his family and will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 55 years, Lucy. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law; George R, Rutherford Jr. of Bellevue, OH and David (Angela) Rutherford of Ceredo, WV, five daughters and three sons-in-law; Ramona (Hank) Clark of Raceland, KY, Robin Wilson of Ceredo, WV, Donna Rutherford of Huntington, WV, Ann (John) Rayburn of Hurricane, WV, Gigi (Ed) Mathis of Prichard, WV, seventeen grandchildren; Ronald and Beth Wilson, Scott and Ashley Wilson, Christopher George, Ryan George, David Alan Rutherford II, Lora Beth Rutherford, Ashley Rutherford, Daniel Rutherford, Jenny and Jarod Stephens, Monica Rayburn, John Rayburn II, Whitney Mathis, Eddie Mathis, and Heather Rutherford, six great-grandchildren; Rhianna Wilson, Ronald Wilson III, Kaylee Wilson, Lexi Wilson, Tyler Stephens, and Ciera Serreno , two sisters; Mildred Hardwick of Kenova, WV and Wilma Jean Peters of Lady Lake, FL, and one brother; Franklin Rutherford of KY. He was preceded in death by one brother; Paul Rutherford. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a member of American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, WV, a retired conductor with the United Transportation Union, a member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Huntington, WV. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the management, doctors, and nursing staff of the VA Medical Center for their sincere work and caring. Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Eric Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Docks Creek Cemetery in Kenova, WV. Friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home.
