Harold Eugene "Gene" Ward, II

Harold Eugene "Gene" Ward II, 78, of Huntington, left this life on March 19, 2025 at Heritage Center, Huntington. He was the son of Dr. Harold E. Ward and Ellen Hazlett Ward, both deceased. He was a graduate of Vinson High School and Marshall University. He was a science teacher at both Barboursville and Cabell Midland High Schools for a combined 39 years. He was an accomplished percussionist and lent his knowledge to the instruction of several area high school bands. He was also a former member of the Greater Huntington Symphonic Band. He was a member of Westmoreland United Methodist Church and an avid supporter of Marshall University athletics. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Ellenda Meadows Ward, his sister Judith Ward Adkins, his daughter Kimberley Ellen Ward Lynch (Randall) of Taylorsville, KY, his son Christopher Matthew Ward (Whitney) of Cattletsburg, KY, and his grandchildren Declan and Falynn Ward. Visitation will be Monday, March 24, from 12:00 to 1:00, with service at 1:00 at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Big Green Foundation.
