Homer Eugene Smith

Homer E. Smith, 86, of Huntington, WV husband of Sharon Robertson Smith passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.  Funeral Liturgy will be conducted on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Rev.Fr. Douglas Ondeck. Rite of Committal will follow at Smith Family Cemetery, Wayne, WV.  Homer was the owner operator of Smith Grocery, a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post 1064 and American Legion Post 93. He was a member of Sacred heart Catholic Church.  He was born on July 22, 1932 in Wayne County WV the son of the late George Pascal and Anna Marie Morrison Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Dolores Smith; one brother and two sisters Leo Smith, Rose Adkins and Bonnie Smith.  In addition to his wife he is survived by his son and daughter in law Joseph and Pamela Smith; step children Eddie (April) Dent, Jason Dent, Donna Dent and Laura Dent; grandchildren  Amanda (Josh) Lusher and Darrell (Thea) Smith;  step grandchildren Tyler Watts, Jacob, Madison and Jason Hunter Dent;  great grandchild Brynn Smith; step great grandchildren Drake and Kinleigh Watts; brothers and sisters in law Jimmy (Marcia) Smith, Buford (Joann) Smith, George P. (Jenny) Smith Jr.; sister and brother in law Barbara (Jim) Beckley;  sister in law Alberta Robertson;  many special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends and his beloved dog Maggie.  Friends may call from 3-6 pm Sunday January 27, 2018 at the Reger Funeral Home.  Donations may be made to the Salvation Army.  Special thanks to the Huntington VA Home care team, St. Mary’s Home Health and Jessica Quigley.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.regerfh.com .
