Jacky Dale Thacker, 69 of Huntington, WV passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at his home in Huntington. He was born in Huntington, WV on December 16, 1953 a son of the late James and Myrtie Dean Thacker. Jacky proudly served his county in the United States Air Force. He was a retired employee of the Huntington, VA Medical Center serving as Chief, Food Production. Jacky was a graduate of Buffalo High School Class of 1971. He attended Marshall University and was a trainer of Mid-Level Management Training Center, Richmond, VA during his career with the VA. Jack had a heart of gold and touched so many lives. He would do anything he could for a person in need and was always ready to pitch in to lend a helping hand. He volunteered with many organizations serving as Chair of the WV state Special Olympics Games Management Team, a soccer coach and speaker to area schools on farming and animal care. His favorite past time was farming, gardening and canning. He won several blue ribbons at the local fair for vegetable and jellies/jams. Jacky's greatest pride and joy was his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He delighted in seeing each new generation grow and learn and made sure they knew and grew up with a deep respect for their heritage and other people. He was happiest when the great grandchildren were all together at his house, playing and hanging out with Pawpaw. He is survived by his loving fiance Sheila Stapleton; his daughter Mary Thacker Hysell(Keith) of Huntington; his son Jesse (Lauren) Thacker of Little Rock, Arkansas, grandson John ( JD) Hysell (Mariah) of Huntington, WV, two granddaughters Rebecca Hysell (George) of Logan, WV and Bethany Albright (Austin) also of Huntington, 4 great grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Wyatt and Addalynn Albright, Eloise and Henry Hysell all of Huntington, one brother Julius of Wayne County; three sisters Peggy of Wayne County, Sharon of California and Debra of Ohio and several nieces and nephew. Graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Union Hill Cemetery, Chesapeake, Ohio with Rev. Jody Fortner officiating. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Reger Funeral Home Ceredo-Kenova Chapel, Ceredo, W.Va. A procession will follow to the cemetery. He will be dearly missed by her family, friends and those who knew him.
