James Emmit Thompson, 75 of Huntington, WV passed away, Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. James was married for 56 years to Cheryl Anne Murphy Thompson. He was a retired supervisor from Steel of West Virginia. In addition, he was a deacon and member of Jackson Ave. Church of God Holiness. He loved fishing and hunting and enjoyed antique cars and car shows. Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Kelly and granddaughters, Samantha Hughart and Tabitha Gibson; his daughter, that also was his caregiver, Kimberly and husband Stephen Watts; granddaughter, Daniele Watts and grandson, Tyler Watts; one brother, David and wife Barbara Thompson; nephew, Michael and wife Kenessa Thompson, their children Kenley, Kelsey, and Lucas; nephew, Mark and wife Stacey Thompson and their children, Clara and Cade; and one niece, Kelly and Ivan Wisley and their children, Iva, Lucy and Ryder. A special thank you to Dr. William Beam for over 20 years of care; St. Mary's Hospital, Encompass, and especially the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House nurses for all your care and kindness. Visitation will be Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Jackson Avenue Church of God Holiness from noon until 1:00 PM with the funeral following at 1:00 PM at the Church officiated by Pastor Mark Thompson. Burial will be in the Earl Cemetery, Skyview Drive, Huntington, WV. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
