James Iven Hite

James I. Hite, 87, widower of Shirley Ward Hite, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.  Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 1:00pm at the 1st Baptist Church Ceredo with Pastor Jeff Canterbury. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Memory Garden where military rites will be rendered by American Legion Post 93.  James was born on December 9, 1936 in Huntington WV the son of the late Alfred and Ethel Casey Hite. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his daughter Lori S. Hite.  He was a retired meat cutter and a veteran of the US Navy and attended First Baptist Ceredo.  He is survived by his children  James (Lydia) Hite Jr., Sherri (Shane) Akers, Amy (Scott) Murphy; grandchildren James D. (Mary) Hite, Gabrielle R. Hite, Sarah Akers (Matt) Dersch, Hannah Akers (Zach) Eller and Kaitlin P. Murphy; great grandchildren Stella Hite, Ma’Khi Hite, Jesus DeRavens, Noah DeRavens and Britany Betancourt Dersch.  James enjoyed golf in his younger years and watching westerns.  The family would like to thank Hospice House for their compassionate and loving care of our father.  Friends may call from 5-7 pm Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at the Reger Funeral Home Ceredo-Kenova Chapel and a visitation will be held on Thursday April 18, 2024 from noon until service time at the church.  The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
