James Lee Vanhoose

JAMES L. VANHOOSE, 74, of Huntington, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Keith Wiebe and Pastor Jerry Matt. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. James was born on May 13, 1935, in Huntington, W.Va., the son of the late Scott and Viola Pratt VanHoose. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack VanHoose. James retired from U.S. Airways as a customer service agent and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served as a military policeman. After his retirement, he worked as a parking lot attendant for Tri-State Airport. He was a member of Grace Gospel Church. James enjoyed trout fishing and playing golf. He is survived by his wife of 47-and-a-half years, Nancy C. Montroso VanHoose; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Cheryl VanHoose of Dayton, Ohio, James Christopher and Marilyn VanHoose of Statesville, N.C., and Bobby and Kathy VanHoose of Hurricane, W.Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen Sue VanHoose Shope and James Shope of Ironton, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Will, Jonathan, Chaire and Spencer Van Hoose, Tanner Shope, and Michael and Nicholas Wright; one sister, Geraldine Crum of Huntington; mother-in-law, Opal Montroso; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
