James Morgan Smith

James Morgan Smith, 84, of Huntington, WV passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm by Pastor Greg Tomlinson on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Jefferson Avenue Church of God. Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery. James was born on November 5, 1938 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Carl Hobert and Nellie Stapleton Smith, Sr. James was an auctioneer. He was known as "Dad" to many of the children in the west end and was always there to help with Christmas and Birthdays. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wives, Delores Fortner Smith and Mary Martha Smith; one daughter, Bonnie Kochendorfer-Goff; five brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by two sons, William Kochendorfer and Joseph Kochendorfer; two daughters, Mary Kochendorfer McClure and Tina Marie Smith-Brown; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and a dear friends James Lewis. In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to Jefferson Avenue Church of God or the City Mission. Friends may call from noon until service time on Monday at Jefferson Avenue Church of God.
