March 4, 1939 — August 13, 2017

JoEllen Wellman, 78 of Prichard, WV went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 13, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 4, 1939 in Prichard, WV; a daughter of Raymond Leon and Carnes Marie (Warden) Burke. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving in-laws, Clarence and Vangie Wellman; sisters, Betty Bowen, Mary Wilmouth, Sudie Napier and Maxine Burke; brothers, Leon Burke, Bud Burke and Billy Jack Burke; son-in-law, Larry Flowers and grandson, Chipper Ryan Willis. JoEllen was a homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Earl Franklin Wellman, her children: Angie Wellman Willis (Tim) of Prichard, WV and Lora Wellman Flowers of Myrtle Beach, SC.; her 6 grandchildren: Cindy Dixon (Tracy) of Wayne, WV, Wendy (Robert) Mosteller of Sod, WV, Tracy Fuller of Prichard, WV, Haley (Tyler) Hughes of Huntington, WV, Wyatt Tabor and Karson Tabor of Wayne, WV. Also surviving are 6 great-grandchildren that she dearly loved: Riley Dixon, Lydia Adkins, Dawson Mosteller, Brady Dixon, Sofia Adkins and Beckham Hughes. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and politics. She was a Charter Member of the Community Crime Watch in Prichard and an active member of the Prichard Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxillary for many years. The family would like to give a special thanks to Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House staff for their compassionate care; thank you also to Crystal Perkins, Donna Nolan, Sonya Freeze-Adkins, Betty Ellis, Larry Gue, Helen Carter and special family friends, Kevin Dixon and Pastor David Roach, each of you have been a blessing to our family. Graveside services will be conducted at 12 noon, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, WV with Elder Kevin Dixon officiating.17-045
