John Howard Deskins, 90 of Kenova passed away Monday August 28, 2006 in St. Marys Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm Thursday at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. He was born May 26, 1916 in Nolan, WV (Mingo County) a son of the late Albert and Anna (Deskins) Deskins. John was a member of the First Christian Church, Charleston, WV. Mr. Deskins was formerly employed by American Motors and the Fedders Corporation as a teacher in refrigeration. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Deskins; one daughter, Elizabeth �Betty� Ferguson; three sisters, Blanche Deskins, Grethel Dameron, and an infant Ola Deskins; and two brothers Fern Deskins an infant Wendell Deskins. He is survived by one brother Lloyd Deskins and his wife Mary Alice of Greensboro, NC; one grandson, Jack W. Ferguson II of Ronceverte, WV; one great grandson, Peyton S. Ferguson of Columbus, OH; one son-in-law, Jack W. Ferguson of Kenova, WV; one nephew, Fred Compston and his wife Wilma of Tusco, AZ; and three nieces, Marlene Johnson and her husband George of Williamson, WV., Sandra Ward and Connie Alley both of Greensboro, NC. The family wished to extend special thanks to friends and neighbors James Smith, Bill and Phyillis Bills, Mr. Deskins Ceredo Church family, Dr. David Daniels and the Hospice staff at St. Marys Medical Center. Friends may call from 6-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. The care and services of Mr. Deskins are under the direction of Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home, Ceredo, WV.
