John W. Davis, Sr.

John William Davis Sr., 98, of Kenova, WV was born May 17, 1925 went to meet his Lord and Savior on July 31, 2023 after being under the care of Hospice of Huntington.

John was preceded in death by his parents: Jack and Etta Davis, 3 sisters; Lenora, Julia and Ruth and 5 brothers; Walter, Oliver, Kay, Amos and Roy.

H e was also preceded by his first wife and mother of his children; Mabel Davis

John is survived by his wife: June McKeand Davis of Kenova, WV, his son; John Davis. Jr. of Caryville, TN, daughter and son in law: Ruth Ann and the Rev. Cledith Campbell, Jr. of Huntington, WV, three grand-daughters; Christina Campbell, Stephanie Childress (Ryan), Sara Beth Stacy (Trevor), 2 grandsons: Michael Davis (Shannon), Jonathan Campbell (Valerie) and 5 great grand-children. He is also survived by one brother: James Davis (Jean) of Apple Grove, WV

John was a deacon of Buffalo Valley Baptist Church and had a passion for ministering to the homebound members of the church. He retired from Heiner’s Bakery with over 40 years of service. John enjoyed hunting, golfing and gardening.

Funeral service will be conducted 2;00pm Thursday, August 3rd at Buffalo Valley Baptist Church by Rev. Tim Jayne. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Rt. 75, Kenova.

Friends may call from 12:00-2:00 pm Thursday at the church.

His children would like to thank Robin Ekers for being such a great care giver to their father.
