Joyce Jenkins

Joyce Lorraine Jenkins, 100, of Harrison Ohio, formerly of Huntington W.VA. passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, at Shawneesprings of Harrison Care Facility. The visitation will take place on Thursday, August 24 from 12 noon – 1 pm. A graveside service will follow at Spring Valley Memory Gardens at 1:30 pm. Joyce was born on March 11, 1923, in Hamlin, South Dakota. Daughter of Oscar and Hilma Salonen. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ezra Jenkins; sisters, Geneva Baker, Ivadelle Juntti; brothers, William Salonen, Leslie Salonen, Gordon Salonen, Vern Salonen, and Lowell Salonen. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda and husband Chuck Hail; granddaughter, Melissa and husband, Sean Poloskey; great grandson, Max Poloskey; Great granddaughter, Hannah Poloskey; sister-in-law, Charmane Salonen; and a host of nieces & nephews. Joyce was a proud veteran of WWII where she served in 3rd. Army as a Finance clerk under General George Patton. She met the love of her life while serving in Germany. Ezra and Joyce were married in Heidelberg Germany in 1946 and were together for 70 years. Upon returning to the states Joyce continued working with various companies as credit manager or bookkeeping. Joyce was a wonderful Christian woman who loved God, her family and Church. She was a long-time member of Huntington 1st. Church of the Nazarene. Joyce was always helping Ezra in various Church projects and served with a smile.

Joyce loved her family and was so proud of them, especially her granddaughter, grandson in law, and great grandchildren.
