On Sunday, April 21, 2024, Juanita McDowell Taylor Heiner went home to be with the Lord at the Village at Riverview surrounded by her family. Mom’s wish became a reality to “Stroll Over Heaven” with Jesus and her beloved family that preceded her, parents, Jay and Anna Merle Carter McDowell; husbands, Billy Joe Taylor, the father of her children, and George E. Heiner; sons, Donald K. Taylor and Mark S. Taylor; three brothers, Donald McDowell, Larry McDowell and Jerry McDowell and one sister, Barbara Gibson. Juanita was born May 16, 1931, in Huntington, WV and graduated from Huntington High School, Class of 1949. Besides being a wonderful homemaker, she was employed as a school secretary by the Cabell County School District where she later retired. Baking and canning were two of her most enjoyable pastimes and countless friends were the happy recipients of her blackberry cobbler, bread and butter pickles and chow chow. She was a member of the Tenth Avenue Church of God and most recently attended Community of Grace United Methodist Church. Juanita is survived by her children, Dianna “Annie” Stewart (Dick) and David Michael Taylor (Miriam) and daughter-in-law, Pamela Shaffer Taylor. She was “Nana” to her 5 grandchildren, D.J. Casto (Jaime), Meghan Jones (Dustin), Anna Beckett (Trey), Amy Kimball and Eric Taylor. Her great grandchildren who brought her much joy are Ryen Casto, Lucy Jones, Wes Jones and Nikki Kimball. Juanita also leaves behind a very special friend, Roberta Ferguson, and her many friends at the Barboursville Wyngate Community. A funeral will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 26, 2023, at Reger Funeral Home and Chapel, Huntington, WV. Reverend Donna Hinkle and Pastor Darrell Buttram will officiate. Visitation is one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Cemetery, Huntington, WV. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Community of Grace United Methodist Church, 225 28th St. Huntington, WV 25702 or the Tenth Avenue Church of God, 2301 Tenth Avenue, Huntington, WV 25703. The family is very grateful to the staff at Village at Riverview for the excellent care she received while living there. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.regerfh.com.
