The family of Judy Burford Davis of Huntington, WV is deeply saddened to announce
that she passed away on March 20, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Judy left
us too soon at the age of 60, wrapped in the arms of her husband and children, and
surrounded by loved ones.
Judy and her twin sister were born at Cabell Huntington Hospital on August 17, 1963.
She attended Huntington High School and at the age of 16 met the love of her life, Jeff
Davis. She attended college at Marshall University and joined the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority
where she solidified some of the most important friendships of her life. She finished
Marshall with a M.B.A. and a Bachelor of Science in Finance & Business Law.
After 10 years of dating, Judy married Jeff, her high school sweetheart, on April 8, 1989.
In 1991, they welcomed their daughter Ashley into their family and three years later their
son, Austin.
Judy was an accomplished and highly awarded pharmaceutical sales representative for
Bayer for 20 years. After retiring from Bayer, she decided to open a small business that
would benefit her hometown. She had always dreamed of owning a small gift shop and
made her dream a reality when she opened Wildflower Gift Gallery, the first business to
open in The Market in downtown Huntington. Judy poured her heart and soul into her
business, even after being diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after opening her shop.
She loved searching for quality gifts and local artisan goods to fill the tables, walls, and
floors of her store so that she could help anyone find the perfect gift. Judy continued to
make purchases for her business up until her final days.
Until the very end, Judy’s faith and spirit held strong. She continued to tell jokes, buy
gifts for loved ones, and give lots of love and affection to everyone around her. She also
never stopped singing and shared her love of music with everyone, from her church
choir to duets with her twin sister. The warmth in her voice will be deeply missed.
Judy leaves behind a legacy of joy, kindness, and generosity that will be missed by
everyone who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Davis, who stood right by
her side through all of life’s joys and very tough trials. Together they built a home and a
life of laughter, joy, and unbreakable love. She is also survived by her two children,
Ashley and Austin, their significant others, Cody and Anna, her three siblings, Jill,
Jeanne Anne, and Mark, and their spouses, Phil, Marc, and Stephanie. On her
husband’s side, she is survived by her mother-in law, Leona Davis, her sister-in-laws,
Pam, Cheryl, and Tina, and their significant others, Mike and Danny. Her heart
overflowed with love for her nieces and nephews: Shelby, Alex, Abby, Chase, Bobby,
Brooks, Michael, Sarah, Danielle, Jason, and Morgan. She is also deeply mourned by
her life-long best friends Michele, Stephanie, Lee and her Bunco Group. She is
preceded in death by her parents, Jeanne and Bob Burford, and her brother Jimmy.
All funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 23,
2024. Visitation with the family will be from 10 AM - 1 PM, service at 1 PM, and burial at
Springhill Cemetery directly after the service.
