June Adkins Napier

Mrs. June Adkins Napier, 74, of Ceredo, WV, entered into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, September 11, 2010. She was born on October 8, 1935, to the late Oscar and Vicie Ferguson Adkins at Kiahsville, WV. She was a graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School, employed by Owens, and later retired after 18 years of service as secretary of Ceredo-Kenova Middle School. As well as her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, William Napier Miranda; brothers, Ervin B., Oscar Jr., and Shirley Ray Adkins, and a sister, Jettie Lee Adkins. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mose A. Napier, former Mayor of Ceredo. She enjoyed serving the community as First Lady for 40 years. Other survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Sherrie Napier Miranda and Steven Nelson, and a very special granddaughter Sarah Ann Miranda, of Huntington, WV; son and daughter-in-law, Philip A. and Elisabeth Napier, and a very special former daughter-in-law, Cynthia Agee Napier, and three very special grandsons, Alexander, Grant, and Clark Napier, all of Canberra, Australia; two sisters Jewell Sunderlin of Churchville, VA, and Cleo Harger of Springfield, MO; three brothers, E. Gene, Fred T., and Otis E. Adkins, all of Ceredo, WV; many nieces and nephews; along with very special caregivers, Barbara and April Robertson, Jada Keesee, Crystal Perkins, Pearl Shepard, Sonya Freize, and David Lyons. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am, Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Ceredo with Pastor Rodney Hale officiating. Burial will follow in the Crescent Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9pm Wednesday at the Church. The family requests expressions of sympathy be made by donation to either Hospice of Huntington or to the American Lung Association, these may be made at the Church. She will be remembered as a warm, generous Christian to all who knew her.
