Kathleen Heath Watrous, 71, of Huntington, WV passed away unexpectantly on December 3, 2023 due to multiple health complications. Kathy was born June 12, 1952 in Fort Meade, Maryland. Her family moved to Huntington where she attended Cammack Jr. High and graduated from Huntington High School in 1970. Kathy graduated with a nursing degree and worked as an RN at Cabell Huntington Hospital for over 30 years. She touched many lives while working in Labor and Delivery, as a Certified Lactation Consultant, and one of her greatest achievements was helping start up and run the Perinatal Clinic for many years until she retired. After retiring, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Kathy enjoyed attending her grandson’s ballgames, shopping with her granddaughter, breakfast with “the girls,” catching up on gossip at the beauty shop, going to dinner with friends, reading on the beach, discussing history, oldies music, and creating unique crafts. She was one of the sweetest and kindest people. Her family and friends meant the world to her, and she was well known to many as Nana. She will be remembered for being the life of the party because she never met a stranger, always made you laugh, gave her honest opinion and was always willing to help and talk to others. Kathy is survived by her loving daughters, Shannon Phillips and Heather (Jeff) Parker and four grandchildren, Sarah Phillips (23), Bryson Parker (23), Jackson Parker (21), and Colson Parker (19). Kathy is also survived by a sister, Holly (Marc) Wild; and two brothers, Geoffrey (Sally) Heath and Kevin (Jill) Heath; along with many nieces and nephews that were very close to her heart. Kathy had many life-long friends that were considered family. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Elaine Heath, who perished in the Marshall Plane Crash. There will be a Celebration of Life in honor of Kathy on Wednesday, December 20 from 5-9 pm at the St. Clouds Commons Lodge at 1701 Jackson Avenue, Huntington, WV 25704. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to honor Kathy’s life and love for animals be sent to the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter 1901 James River Road Huntington, WV 25701. Donations can also be made online at hcwanimalshelter.com. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
