Kathryn Juanita Adkins

Mrs. Kathryn Juanita Adkins, age 83, of Jasper, Georgia died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at her daughters residence, following a period of declining health. Born July 5, 1925 in Portsmouth, OH she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Sarah Johnson McCoy. Mrs. Adkins was preceded in death by her husband, Wiser Adkins, granddaughter, Sissy Adkins, 2 grandsons, Steven Newbold and Darrin Adkins, sister, Maxine Drosenos, and a brother, LeRoy McCoy. Mrs. Adkins was a former resident of Crescent City, Fla., where she owned a restaurant and served as a substitute teacher. She was a member and had held various officer positions in the American Legion Auxiliary and was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and David Young of Jasper, GA; Lois and Sherrill Ekers, of Dawsonville, GA.; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Gina Adkins, of New Carlisle, OH; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Ellen McCoy, of Crescent City Fla., Wayne and Ellen McCoy, of Akron, OH; 5 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home with Pastor Amos Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatten Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Saturday at the Ceredo-Kenova Funeral Home.
