Kay Ellen Joy

Kay Ellen Haptonstall Joy, 71 of Huntington, WV was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 11, 2016. She was born on November 29, 1944 in Huntington, WV; a daughter of the late Harry David Haptonstall and Katherine Elizabeth Jeffers Haptonstall. Kay was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Dewey and Margaret A. Joy. She is survived by her husband of 54 years and 11 months, Robert D. �Bob� Joy; her children: Becky Meade (Rick), Richard Joy and Sue Joy Ramsey; her grandchildren: Rob Bryant, Kat Bryant (Justin Toney), Becky White (Carl Eugene White), Ricky Meade (LauraBeth Marie Meade) and her only great granddaughter, Aryazzelia Meade. Also surviving are her brothers, David Haptonstall (Carmel) and Tom Haptonstall (Erma) and her dear friend, Sandy Koslow Thomas. Kay spent her life being a loving daughter, wife, mother, Grams and a true friend to many. She never met a stranger and loved everyone unconditionally. Her smile could light up a room as she spread joy wherever she went. Kay was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Marcum Chapter #61 in Ceredo, WV. She was a lifelong Episcopalian too; first at Trinity Episcopal then for 50 years at St. Peters Episcopal Church. She was an avid MU Football fan as well as a UK Basketball fan. A Celebration of her Life will be held at St. Peters Episcopal Church on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 3 p.m. with visitation one hour prior.
