L. Lloyd Brumbaugh, 87, of Kenova, passed away peacefully at his home on July 16, 2023. Born at home in Tippery, Pennsylvania, on September 13, 1935, he was the oldest son of the late Lester and Dorothy Myers Brumbaugh.
He was a 1953 graduate of Cranberry High School. On August 14, 1954, Lloyd married Marietta Guth Brumbaugh. They
shared 69 years of marriage together. Lloyd worked as a manager at several well-known grocery store chains including Loblaw in Cranberry and Beaverfalls, PA., Foodland in Portsmouth, Ohio, and Huntington, WV., Super Value, B&B and the Vice President for Tradewell Grocery store in Huntington, WV. He refused to retire and continued working at Hagan ice cream and Dean foods/Broughton until he retired at 80 years of age. Lloyd loved restoring old cars, going to car shows and watching old movies. He also loved keeping in touch with friends including his best friend from high school Bob “Popeye” Lineman and all the members of the “Old Timers Group” from the grocery store chains and vendors of Huntington, WV. His wife Etta and him loved to travel and enjoyed returning to Walnut Creek to visit Eli Raber on multiple occasions. He and Etta even returned to Cranberry for their high school reunion every year until they ended with the last one August 2021.
He enjoyed the most was time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his four paw children: Macy and
Mindy. He usually gave each child a nickname, a hard time and he always had a job for you.
Survivors in addition to his wife include their children Jon Lowell (Anna) Brumbaugh, Mark Leroy (Cheryl) Brumbaugh,
Brenda Lena (Richard) Brumbaugh-Madison, Lisa Linette (David) Fritz, July Leanna (Joe) Madden. Their Grandchildren:
Rachel (John) Lopez, Erica Gissel, Monica Gissel, Matthew Levi (Zoe) Brumbaugh, Diana Brumbaugh, Carl (Jasmine) Fox,
Joshua (Rachel) Brumbaugh, Kayla (Logan) McCallister, Kari Brumbaugh, Sara (Kody) Felix. Hunter (Abby) Brumfield, Colton
Fox, Rebekah Brumbaugh, Emma Madden and Joseph Madden. His great grandchildren included Cameron Perdue, Zoey Jane Marie Gissel, Branson Bricker, Breyleigh Walters, Bret Bricker, Henry Lopez, Liam McCallister, Kane Lopez, Thorben
McCallister, Josie Bricker, Memphis Walters and Ford Brumfield. His step grandchildren included Alex Madison, Andy
Madison, Damon Moore, Tyler Fritz, Cameron Fritz, Jacob Fritz and Jordan Fritz. His step great grandchildren including Cory
(Fox) Messinger and Liam (Fritz) Smith. Preceding him in death were his parents, Lester and Dorothy Myers Brumbaugh, his first-born son Luke Lloyd (Julie) Brumbaugh, his brother Richard Brumbaugh and his sister Jeanne Roberts. A family visitation at 5pm followed by public visitation 6-8 at Reger Funeral Home in Huntington on Friday, June 21, 2023. On
Saturday June 22, 2023, Funeral Liturgy will be at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Huntington with Rite of Committal at Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Sacred Heart Catholic Church or St. Ann’s Circle.
