Leona Frances Hawkins Davis, 91, died peacefully on October 11, 2024 surrounded by her loving children. She was a loving mother to her four children: Pamela (Michael) Gates of Columbus, Ohio: Cheryl(Dan) McCallister of Barboursville, WV: Tina Anderson of Kenova, WV and Jeff Davis of Huntington, WV. She was also the best Maw Maw to five grandchildren, Jason(Taylor Heise) Anderson of Cape Coral, Fl: Ashley(Cody) Lobo of Huntington, WV: Danielle McCallister, DVM of Orlando, Fl: Austin(Anna Torres) Davis of Raleigh, NC: and Morgan(Mark) Zahnle of Columbus, Oh.
She had two step-grandchildren: Timothy and Benjamin Gates both of Columbus, Oh. She also had eight great-grandchildren, Alec, Mekneiah, Nehemiah, Madison, Shelby, and Jaelyn Anderson and Jude and Josie Zahnle and a sister-in-law: Linda Zacceria of Boca Raton, Fl. Also special to her were her nieces, Vicki(Grant) Marple and Rita McComas, Tara Crane and Sue Zacceria, two nephews Donny and Harold Hawkins a special great niece, Shaunna Smith and a special addition to her life, Michael Carroll and Rebecca Adkins
Leona was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Jefferson Paul Davis Jr., her parents Alex and Icie Hawkins, her brother Harold “Hawkshaw” Hawkins and sisters Mary Berry and Betty Lawhorn and a beautiful daughter in law Judy Burford Davis.
Leona was a lifelong resident of Huntington, WV and an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She resided at Madison Park Healthcare for the last three years of her life and was an active participant in all activities including bingo, choir and was selected prom queen. She especially loved the music performances by Keith Ellison, Lee Dean(Elvis impersonator) and Geno and Friends(Geno Johnson)
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the wonderful caregivers at the Madison Park Healthcare for all their love, care and kindness over the past several years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14th , 2024 from 5-8pm at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington. The funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 15th , 2024 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church in Huntington, WV immediately followed by burial services at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church or St. Jude’s Cancer Research Center
